Evening cruise - another angle

Dodging the day vans we had a cruise around Pompey for old times sake. The vintage corner dripping oil and water as usual. SimonBloke

Evening Cruise

Bri, Si and I joined the Solent Renegades for their Pompey Cruise last Sunday. Bit cold as the sun went down but the cruise was fun. Looking forward to the summer.

2011 recap - Beaulieu Jun11

The Blokes are also members of the Victory Wheelers and as usual were actively involved in the South Coast Internationals, held at Beaulieu in June 2011

Friday was wet wet wet.  Wet Blokes:

Wet cars:
But on Saturday the sun came out for the cruise and the Blokes were happy

And the booze came out and the Blokes were happy
And the Blokes stayed happy
Then the boobs came out and .. .. you get the idea
Blokes were on parking duty on Sunday and some great cars turned out
Hey! be careful on those heels
Calvin looks like he's Happy (or is it Dopey or Bashful?)

2011 revisited - Lonestar3

Heading over to the showground, I think this is the place?
The show area was already pretty busy, and we caught up with the Rolling Bones who had driven over from the east Coast

The swap meet area was pretty good but smaller than we expected, though this would have been nice to bring home in the suitcase

I think this one would look better with the top down..

If by miracle it loads, pic of a nice rear

Sorry guys, having real technical difficulties assembling this blog, seems to take 10 minutes per picture and then lose them.... you may have to imagine the cars and bikes, the all night cruising on Congress, running into Gene Winfield in the bars, the Continental Club, the big show on Saturday, the crazy mini-bike races, the Austin Speed shop party, the sunday run out to Lake Ski Shores, the Mercury Charlie bash Sunday afternoon, and the visit to Dooley's custom shop en route to the airport...the pictures just won;t load... sorry

2011 revisited - Lonestar pt2

Next on the garage tour was Mark's place, a very cool garage with bar/club area, stuffed with memorabilia and cars, and so much space..

The garage tour takes in some amazing personal garages of local gear-heads and they get bigger as the morning, and the heat, rolls on. Pictures don't do them justice, but were we jealous of these guys? You bet...

We ran into Kev Elliott at the tour, who had just arrived non-stop from California in his truck,

....and that reminded us that we needed a beer so we headed out to the showground and the kick off of the show itself.  The show only runs on Friday afternoon and Saturday, so we didn't want to miss out.

Out of space again, see part 3

2011 recap - Blokes hit the Lonestar Roundup

In March 2011 four lucky Blokes (MarkBloke, TomBloke, BrianBloke and SimonBloke) jetted off to Austin, Texas for a long weekend for the excellent and very hot Lonestar Roundup.

Where do I start?  Too many pics but here's a few:

Thursday afternoon and after way too long queuing at passport control, we pick up our rental Charger and hit the sunset strip
We grab our room in the arse-end of Austin and stroll out for some TexMex and beers, and later on take a stroll through the hotel car park.  Couple of nice motors in town for the show and we get chatting to the owners
Bright and early Friday morning and its time to scoff the entire breakfast buffet and meet up for the Garage Cruise.  We encounter a few rods along the way, we're not at work and its warm already, a good day!

We hide the Charger out back and mingle with the gathering crowd, which includes Keith Harman and a few fellow Brits.  Cruise is well organised by Mark the fireman with excellent directions and a big friendly Texan greeting
First stop seems to be an RV sales parking lot but it gives us the chance to check out some cars, all very cool

Seems I've run out of space??, more to follow

2011 recap - start the year

Looking back to early 2011, there was a lot of work happening on the Blokes' cars
Amongst others:

My coupe grew a set of fenders and running boards, nearly ready to roll
Brian was junking his 3 speed for a 5 in his '36
Martin was finally about to drive his A sedan
Calvin was busy with the metal polish on the cab-over
and by the summer Pete's roadster was really coming together

Just testing.... more to come
